Lose your fear and make your own dough, you will notice a huge difference. Once you do it two or three times you will find that it is easier than you think. In addition, you can not only make the traditional dough, but you can also add other ingredients, thus adding variety to your pizza.

Use Homemade Tomato

On the base of the pizza, it is normal to put a tomato sauce. Look for the tomato sauce to be as dense as possible, and, therefore, have a lower water content, you can use a tomato paste or a fried tomato sauce. In this way, the dough will not get too wet and it will have that crunchy touch that we all like.

Use Fresh Mozzarella Or Real Cheeses

In our opinion, mozzarella cheese is the best option for a pizza, and cheddar is the worst. Although if you want to try other flavors, such as blue cheese, or combine them, do not hesitate to do so. The result will surprise you!

What we do suggest is to use fresh cheese, the kind that has a little water in its packaging and not those products already prepared for homemade pizza.

Prepare Some Ingredients In The Pan Beforehand

This is a little trick that we do a few times in Santa Vida. We first go through the pan over low heat and with a little oil some homemade pizza ingredients such as onion or pepper and then we add them to the pizza. This way we avoid that the ingredients being burned or toasted when they are baked.

Eggplant, artichoke, mushrooms, chilies, are examples of ingredients that you can prepare before.

Don’t Abuse The Ingredients

We do not like pizzas in which you have to be looking for a piece of meat or pepperoni, but we should not abuse the ingredients either since many times they are so loaded that the heat of the oven does not reach the base and they remain somewhat raw in the center. They are those pizzas that, when biting into a portion, the ingredients drain, this is because it has not been cooked well.

So the first thing you have to do is determine what the core flavors of your homemade pizza will be. We recommend using a maximum of 4 to 5 different toppings.

Put The Oven At Maximum Temperature

This is one of the main keys to the success of a good pizza. Depending on the type of oven you have, the cooking times your pizza needs are.

If your oven is a convection oven, you will have to set it to a maximum of 240-250ºC with the fan function on, placing the pizza on the central tray. At this temperature, your pizza will be ready in 4-5 minutes. Now if your oven is electric, your pizza will be ready in a range of 10 to 12 minutes. Here we suggest you put the pizza on the lower tray of the oven so that the lower resistance makes the dough crisp and then raise it for the last 2 minutes to the upper tray to get the pizza to brown in the same way.

Use A Stone For The Oven

It will help the dough to lose moisture much faster and thus make it crispier. If you will use it, we recommend that you preheat it before placing the pizza on top.

Pre-Bake The Dough

If you do not use the stone from the oven, this advice will come in handy. All you have to do is put the dough already extended, but without any ingredient for 1 or 2 minutes in the oven, this will make it lose a little elasticity and we will remove a little moisture.

Add Fresh Ingredients Last

Add some raw ingredients once you take the pizza out of the oven. This tip works very well if you are using jerky, anchovies, anchovies, etc. Do the test and you will see that you will get a better flavor.

Add Some Parmesan Or Other Cheese To Decorate

This is another trick we have to give our homemade pizza a better flavor. You can add some grated parmesan or pecorino once the pizza is finished.
